Take advantage of the free information available on these web sites. They are replete with educational information. Most organizations offer a newsletter that you can subscribe to if you do not want to join.

  An excellent source for information about working in the litigation support industry. Click on ‘chapters’ to read about events in Michigan.
   
• NALS of Michigan
  
  State organization with several regional chapters. Resource for continuing legal education; local, state, regional and national networking; code of ethics and professional standards; certification.
   
• National Federation of Paralegal Associations, Inc.
  
  One of two national paralegal organizations. They have a newsletter "The Paralegal" you can subscribe too. They publish a utilization survey.
   
• National Association of Legal Assistants
  
  One of two national paralegal organizations. They have a newsletter "Facts and Findings" that you can subscribe too. They publish a utilization survey.
   
• The State Bar of Michigan
  
  Offers affiliate membership to Legal Assistants. They publish a newsletter “The Michigan Legal Assistant” four times per year where you will find the Ask Linda Column. Seminars are held regularly, including at the State Bar of Michigan Annual Meeting in September.
   
• International Paralegal Management Association
  
  Membership is for Legal Assistant Managers. They publish a legal assistant utilization survey.
   
• The Association of Legal Administrators
  
  Not a legal assistant organization but they have information about paralegal employment from time to time. A good way to network with decision makers.
   
• The Detroit Metropolitan Bar Association
  
  Offers membership to legal assistants. Membership luncheons are held monthly in Detroit.
   
• The American Bar Association
  
  Offers membership to legal assistants. Approves legal assistant programs through the Standing Committee on Legal Assistants (SCOLA).
   
• The American Association for Paralegal Education
  
  An organization for paralegal educators. Good information about paralegal schooling.
    
• Oakland County Bar Association, Paralegal Committee
  
  Paralegal membership includes educational and social meetings, and a subscription to Laches.
